What is the Susquehanna Valley Bible Quiz League?
The SVBQL is a nondenomational organization open to any church or group who wants to have fellowship quizzing with others. It is not intended to replace denominational quizzing. We are just another opportunity for young people to quiz.
Quizzers need to be at least 10 years of age and not yet graduated from high school.
SVBQL uses a modified Youth for Christ quizzing style, that is 3 teams of 3 quizzers competing over 15 questions using quiz lights. We follow the World Bible Quiz Association cycle. We also use the 1984 edition of the NIV Bible.

Rules summary
Quizzers sit facing the quizmaster on chairs on which pads are located from which quizzers will jump up. They sit with the first quizzer from each team together followed by the second and the the third members (111,222,333). When a quizzer answers a question with 2 or 3 teams jumping, he/she moves to the first open chair on the quizmasters left. A quizzer gets 30 seconds to answer a question. Answers need not be in question and answer format as long as a quizzer gives all info needed in both the question and answer. This can be done by quoting a verse or verses. A quizzer freezes his/her chair with 3 correct jump answers. A frozen quizzer may only jump on tossup (2 teams jumping) or free questions (1 team jumping). A quizzer errors out with 3 errors and must leave the seats. A substitute quizzer (if team has one) make take his/her place. All quizzers must end with a correct answer. If no correct answer on question 15 then a question 16 will be asked and questions will continue until a correct answer is given. Each correct answer to a question with 2 or 3 teams jumping is worth 20 points. A free question, 1 team jumping, is worth 10 points. A team will lose 10 points for any error beginning with question 15 or if a team has 4 or more errors. A team cannot lose more than 10 points per question. Teams may not have a negative score. The team with the most points at the end of the quiz are the winners and receive 10 points in the team standings. The second place team receives 5 points and the 3rd place team receives 1 point.

Other Stuff
A team may win a quiz by position. This is when a team occupies the first three seats, gold/silver/bronze chairs. This may take place after the third question of the quiz. A positon win is worth 12 points in the team standings and 40 points on individual rates for each member of the team who was in the quiz.
